John R. (the "R" stood for Richbourg) is known as "The Daddy of Rhythm & Blues, or sometimes as "The Granddaddy of Soul". He held court on WLAC/Nashville for over 30 years. He was also a record producer for Joe Simon and others. On this 1970 aircheck, Percy Sledge is his in-studio guest.
