Listen to the Rain: Doom Wop Faves
In an effort to hopefully expand people’s palates regarding
vocal groups, I present to you a compilation of what I call DOOM WOP. 45’s on the ballad side of town, but mostly
about longing, love lost, gained and lost again. Some maybe by chance,
others by devious means like “feeding your baby poison."
These are 45’s to listen to late at night, or when you're melancholy.
They’re not all downers, but even if they are, its music that hopefully
transports you as it does me….
Enjoy Listen to the Rain – Doom Wop Faves.

Holland Rocks Presents Jan Kooi Singles
With Wim Reckers
This hour of music is dedicated to Jan Kooi, it is a selection of his favourite songs of all time. Jan was a fierce advocate of garage rock and rock&roll in the Netherlands. ‘Music has to be real’, he always said, ‘it has to come from the heart, and not from some mainstream producer.’ He owned a record label – Kogar Records – where he offered several starting garage bands an opportunity to put themselves on the map. He also owned a record store in his hometown Groningen, a venue for alternative music records. Jan passed away recently, far too young. One of the last things he said was that he regretted not being able to experience all the music that was yet to be made.
1 Terry Dunavan - Earthquake Boogie
2 Eternals - Rockin' in the Jungle
3 Frankie Lee Sims - Walking With Frankie
4 The Gentrys - Keep On Dancing

Aircheck Of The Week
This week we return to January, 1968 as we visit the Home Of The Good Guys, WMCA/New York to hear Gary Stevens and the Wooleyburger. Gary held down the evening "teen" shift, 7-11 PM. Next to Dan Ingram, he was the funniest talent in New York radio at the time. Listening to Gary Stevens is what inspired me to choose radio for my career path. I've remixed the entire studio-recorded aircheck in stereo.
